Not sure if you have heard this story, but it goes like this.
You open your car door and get in, turn on the engine and pull out of the drive. After the first few turns you are on the Tuggeranong parkway cruising at 100.
If you’re like the minorities, you are listening to Mastery by Robert Greene. Or like the majority Scotty and Nige. Oops, that’s not true any more 😦
You will notice that jerk beside you trying to nudge in front of you, into a gap that doesn’t exist. Or you are trying to pull into the left hand lane and some fool won’t let you in.
You eventually make it through the crazy Canberra peak hour (30 minutes, ahhhhh), and start to pull into the work car park. BOOM! #Winning! There is a park right in front and you take it. You know today is going to be a good day.
As you waltz past building security and get to your desk you feel good about the day, you sit at your desk and log in for the first of many times that day.
COFFEE TIME (repeat 3 times per day)!
Toilet break time (BOOM, just got paid to flush the loo)!
Oh yeah and do some work. Sorry, I mean go to a meeting.
5:30, home time. Same jerks and fools on the road, but you make it home.
Dinner on your own or with people you love, tv for a bit and then bed time.
Alarm goes off, shower, get dressed, eat now or on the road, walk to car, get in, drive to work…… Rinse and repeat.
If you are happy to repeat this process until you reach retirement age (65) then never do goal setting, don’t research how to create them, don’t read books on it and don’t spend some of your hard earned cash on this amazing event being held in Canberra.
